CAPES are institutional grants, paid by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), but administered by the graduate programs. Therefore, the selection criteria for these grants are defined by the Program itself. Different graduate programs may adopt different criteria for the scholarships. The Teaching, Research, and Assistance Support Foundation of the General Hospital of the Ribeirão Preto Medical School of the University of São Paulo (FAEPA) is a non-profitable and private company, with administrative and financial autonomy, and associated with the General Hospital at Ribeirão Preto Medical School (HCFMRP). FAEPA grants aid for graduate students’ attendance in scientific events in Brazil.
